Overview

The Vice President, Compliance will develop, implement and monitor compliance initiatives to ensure FirstKey Homes’ work activities are compliant with all laws and regulations. This VP will review regulatory requirements with Legal team members and operationalize practices for the broader company. He/she will establish formalized policies and procedures, reporting channels, auditing mechanisms, vendor management compliance, and lead training initiatives to ensure all employees understand and practice compliance practices. The Vice President, Compliance will be a highly visible change agent in driving a core organizational goal.

Responsibilities
  • Provide company-wide guidance for compliance policy and/or procedure-related matters. Advise business leaders on the implementation or operation of compliance programs.
  • Collaborate with Legal team to understand company-wide legal and regulatory requirements. Review current organizational compliance practices by meeting with business leaders to assess strengths, opportunities, and gaps. Develop and implement a compliance strategy to align with organizational goals and mitigates risks.
  • Manage the development of formalized company and departmental policies and procedures. Ensures that all policies and procedures are properly communicated, accessible, documented and maintained. Communicate changes to compliance policy and procedure.
  • Establish reporting metrics and channels to track and evaluate the effectiveness of compliance initiatives. Follow-up and resolve compliance issues that are not being met.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit to assist in establishing audit procedures to evaluate company policies, procedures and systems. Develop and maintain auditing mechanisms to ensure compliance activities do not become vulnerable. When deficiencies are found, verify solutions are documented and corrected.
  • Serve as the liaison for external agencies such as vendors, regulatory and insurance agencies as directed by General Counsel.
  • Provide direction re: vendor management compliance to ensure all current and potential agreements meet FirstKey Homes’ requirements and qualifications. Leads annual vendor review process to ensure risks are measured, monitored and controlled.
  • Design employee compliance training framework in conjunction with the Chief Human Resource Officer. Collaborate with Learning and Development to develop training content based on industry best practices. Ensure content is maintained/updated and that participants understand and retain important compliance practices.  Ensure all required training is completed.
  • Develop and present presentations for company-wide events, executive team meetings and board of directors as required.
  • Train, develop, and manage direct reports to achieve organizational goals. Coach and mentor direct reports to enhance their skillset and departmental capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging compliance practices, technologies, laws and regulations. Evaluate, recommend and implement practices that enhance organizational operations and mitigates risk.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law or equivalent work experience and/or education
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience of progressive responsibility in a legal, audit, or management position with compliance responsibilities.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience leading teams to achieve organizational
  • Demonstrated experience creating, launching, and implementing compliance programs
  • Experience working with and advising senior leaders in a strategic, professional manner
  • Proven ability to interface and partner with team members at all levels of an organization
