Overview
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Tax Accountant will assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual preparation of tax returns including but not limited to property and income tax returns. He/she will assist with monthly tax accruals, reconciliation and tax depreciation as well as have exposure to tax provision.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist with monthly tax filings at the local, state and federal level and ensure they are submitted in a timely manner.
- Complete Personal Property Tax renditions and payments in a timely manner.
- Monitor and reconcile tax refunds, penalty and interest.
- Compute monthly real property tax accrual, personal property tax accrual, and quarterly reconciliation of income tax and non-income tax accounts.
- Manage and maintain the tax notice log. Follow-up and resolve any notices that are past due.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining work papers, control documentation and other tax related documents.
- Assist manager with quarterly and annual tax provision.
- Collaborate with business operations to provide tax support including but not limited to W9, gross receipt, FEIN, and tax related documents.
- Assist in gathering tax related information related to audit, tax savings initiative, unclaimed property and other tasks.
- Assist with real property tax forecast, notices, track appeals and monitoring year over year variance.
- Complete other projects as assigned by the Tax Manager.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience and/or education
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with tax preparation and analysis
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience working in real estate, property management or similar industry
- Experience working in a fast pace, high-growth company
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
- Accounting — Knowledge generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
