Overview

The Investment Associate will help drive evaluation and analysis of key investment and strategic opportunities that are critical to the growth and performance of FirstKey Homes. This role will actively learn and stay abreast of full company operations as they impact financial performance and assist in preparing forecasts and operating models that assist leadership with on-going investment efforts and performance optimization. S/he will assist with portfolio acquisitions, underwriting and closings.



Responsibilities

  • Develop/maintain complex business operating and financial models, including monthly, quarterly annual forecasts.
  • Help with analysis needed to support the underwriting of bulk real estate portfolios.
  • Create and ensure controls are in place for identifying proper acquisition tools and reporting.
  • Initiate engagement and on-going collaboration with operational business leaders to gain and maintain in-depth knowledge of the business to support assumptions that impact financial models and business discussions regarding investments and expenditure requests.
  • Prepare elements of strategy documents and presentations for management and board meetings.
  • Participate in presenting models and analysis to various levels of management, including operating managers and executives, board members and Cerberus team members.
  • Contribute to analysis requests by Cerberus that may be adjacent (v. core) to the business.
  • Assist with bulk acquisition deal closing, which can be highly detail oriented, transactional and time constrained.
  • Assist in transaction sourcing, pricing, closings, and capital raising.
  • Support portfolio management (e.g., monitor investment performance, macro research, competitive analysis).
  • Evaluate strategic initiatives, M&A, and potential corporate partnerships from a financial perspective.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or equivalent education
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience of investment banking, business consulting, corporate development or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain complex financial operating models
  • Proven ability to interface and clearly articulate financial models with business leaders, C-Suite Executives and board members
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel, Outlook)

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) a plus
  • Prior experience with significant/high-impact financial analysis (both finance and business operations) is preferred (e.g., investment banking, management consulting)
  • Working knowledge of the real estate industry, including acquisitions, portfolio analysis and valuation is preferred
  • Experience working in a fast pace, high-growth environment is preferred
